What do the programs in Africana Studies and Gay and Lesbian Studies have in common that it would make sense for the same person to chair either department?
What responsibilities does the chair of a department have? If it’s general management (people, timetables etc) then I can imagine a lot of the skills are transferable no matter what the subject matter is.
