Of course it didn't. Water doesn't "put out" an electrical fire. Nor does anything, really. You just have to keep neighboring things from catching fire while you wait for the stored energy to exhaust itself. This was apparently a semi, so big battery, so that took a while.

Is 50k gallons a lot? According to ChatGPT, that could be two firehouses running for two hours. Seems reasonable.
