Just reading the references for each of these is gold!

Trout muscular control in a vortex?! The correlation between super old people and lack of birth documentation and pension fraud?!


I can’t quite figure out why “ Supercentenarians and the Oldest-Old Are Concentrated into Regions with No Birth Certificates and Short Lifespans” is an ignoble candidate let alone winner.

This has been long suspected, makes perfect sense and in my mind isn’t funny, just logical.


Taking something that seems incredibly obvious and writing a rigorous paper about it is often pretty funny, especially if it's not already researched. A lot of SIGBOVIC papers follow this formula.



Why is it the 34th "first annual" ceremony?

Is it humor or is there something deeper?


I’m fairly certain that this was one of those so-called “jokes” I’ve read about.
