> Show me the link to vlc page on arch wiki

> GPT-4: You can find the VLC page on the Arch Wiki at the following URL: VLC - ArchWiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/VLC_media_player)

It cannot "search", but it can provide direct links. I don't think the context just the previous message makes it clear what you actually want. Are you troubleshooting a error?

No. It was giving links in the past easily. Now it doesn't. Maybe 3.5/4 are different.

I don't use it enough to have a good handle on things, meaning I never knew it even gave links. I hope someone is carefully documenting how it gets worse from whatever the heyday of GPT-4 was to the eventual ultra politically correct ad-bot it's destined to become.

It never "gave links".

Sometimes it mentions a domain in an answer, but since it's training cutoff date is 2+ years ago, if it thinks you're trying to use it as a search engine it will tell you to use a search engine.

Even in this example I bet you OP could have just asked again and gotten the links anyways, this is just a disclaimer to avoid people who don't understand cutoff dates being mislead

It's not getting worse, but honestly it might be for the best that the most gullible people convince themselves it is and leave it for the rest of us

I asked a question yesterday and it gave me links I could click on, so at least on Sept 7 it had this capability

It was giving links without questioning in the past. Now they probably tuned it to not do so so often.

Sure.

Oh it would return URLs, and some of them were halucinated, good fun.

Just tried asking for resources on one of its answers.

Not only did I get links; I also got them in a clean markdown format.

ˋˋˋ Certainly! Here are some resources that might help you further understand working with SceneKit and textures:

1. *Apple's SceneKit Documentation*: This is the most comprehensive guide and provides examples for almost all aspects of SceneKit. - [SceneKit Framework](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/scenekit)

2. *Ray Wenderlich Tutorials*: These tutorials cover a wide range of topics and are a great resource for learning SceneKit. - [SceneKit Tutorial](https://www.raywenderlich.com/2795-scenekit-tutorial-getting...)

3. *CAGradientLayer*: Apple's documentation for generating gradients in layers. - [CAGradientLayer Documentation](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/quartzcore/cagradi...)

4. *Generating Images from UIView*: You can use this technique to convert your `CAGradientLayer` into a `UIImage`. - [Create UIImage from UIView](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30696307/how-to-convert-...)

5. *Texture Mapping in SceneKit*: This is specifically about how SceneKit uses textures. - [Texture Mapping](https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Creating_a_Simple_3D_Game_with...)

6. *Online Courses*: Platforms like Udemy and Coursera often have courses that cover iOS 3D programming with SceneKit. Search for "SceneKit" or "iOS 3D programming" to find relevant courses.

Remember to check for the most recent and updated material, as the world of programming is always evolving. ˋˋˋ

So no, I would no say it doesn’t give links anymore. It’s just, as usual, and as could be expected given how it works, inconsistent.

Bing (which uses chatgpt) still does

ChatGPT is an interface to the GPT LLMs. Bing does not use ChatGPT, that is an OpenAI product. The Microsoft front-end product is branded as "Bing Chat".

Sorry I should say “Bing which uses GPT 4 still does”
