In all fairness (and apologies if this isn’t helping) we were all gonna die anyway. Given that humans don’t seem likely to figure out how to never die in the near future, in a sense the possibility of strong AI is our best bet.



Yeah, but I’m in my 20s. I’d rather live out my life, get married, have kids, etc. and die old with a life well lived rather than die in 5-10 years having done none of that.

Though of course that assumes I will live to at least 70 or so which obviously isn’t a given.


More over, having children isn't immortality.

Super intelligent AI as our immortal descendants is as much a legacy as any other - we'll all equally be unable to see it in about 100 years.
