The data doesn't support the conclusion. The authors don't understand why we pay people.

I don't want someone to produce more because it makes them happier, I want everyone to produce more so I have more.

For some reason, they won't produce more unless they get more money. If they don't get more money, they do silly things that don't benefit me at all.
