Honestly, who doesn't at this point ? Show me a large/public consumer company that doesn't have something like this in their ToS ? Even if they don't, I don't believe that they ar not trying to track/find info on me.


There's also just the mathematical probability operating at large corporations.

E.g. the chance of having, in the same organization, PHP4 being used somewhere and at the same time, in a totally different team, the latest and greatest tensorflow ML with all the shiny new tools is quite high.

By extension usage of morally doubtful data sources is also highly probable so an organization of this size must have explicit policies and frequent reminders they condone such activities to combat that.


Totally agree. Or they try to look good to the public but use agencies that do that dirty job for them


Are you expecting them to offer financing and payment plans on $1000+ purchases without a credit check? This is unremarkable.


... is this just so they can sell you ads on your shiny new $2000 phone or watch? Or are there other, more nefarious, purposes?


I am of the opinion that generating a profile of me for the purposes of selling me things is in fact nefarious.
