They've been pushing it back every year because states haven't implemented it uniformly. Washington gave me a non real-ID card in 2022. IIRC the only real-ID option at the time was an Enhanced ID which can be used to cross the border from Canada and costs $100.

Washington gave me a non real-ID driver's license in November 2025. I don't plan on upgrading it unless forced to since I also have a passport.

Get a passport card or a Global entry card .. easier to carry on you for domestic travel.

> easier to carry on you for domestic travel.

But I shouldn't have to. That's the issue here. I shouldn't need an ID of any sort. I shouldn't need to provide my name or date of birth. Either I have weapons or dangerous substances on me or I don't. That's all that should matter.

What about dangerous thoughts or opinions that run against government interests? That seems rather dangerous as well, don't you think?

My theory is that this will benefit Flock.

War crimes are "for Africa and thugs like Putin".

I've never heard of needing a minor. Was that a requirement at your school?

> Low power applications. How does latent power draw compare between a 555 and a typical low power microcontroller?

The 555 is very power hungry compared to a typical cheap low-power microcontroller. IIRC there are lower power variants but the 555 still fundamentally does timing by draining current through a resistor, which is going to result in losses.

Many "libertarians" seem to be far more concerned about the age of consent than the size of the military or police force for some reason.

Those material interests are very persuasive though. Without them, who knows what they might believe.

Some level of eonomic prosperity is necessary to keep the government's key supporters (e.g. the ruling class and the army) satisfied.

Their economic prosperity is more linked to Oil than Internet.

Plus, the elites economic prosperity is also linked to their not being protests and for the toppling of govt to not occur and they might be willing to offset some losses to keep the average population in check

Which sucks for the average iranian but we saw how their protests were cracked down with 20-30 THOUSAND people killed and Iran hiding bodies etc.

I have heard that all shops are either shut down or running at the most minimum capacity. Economic prosperity just isn't a question now in Iran.

Yeah, foreign intervention is probably the best option at this point. If the elites are willing to murder tends of thousands of innocent people, then I see no moral issues with foreign intervention to get rid of IRGC and current government using any means necessary.

Two things can be true at once:

1. The government of Iran is an oppressive, immoral dictatorship.

2. Foreign intervention to try to remove it would likely result in worse outcomes, not better.

Consent manufactured or manufacturing consent I wonder.

So when you read "water bankruptcy", you assumed it meant a legal process where the world can apply to a court to have its water debt annulled and start again?

This really made me laugh, but at the same time "water bankruptcy" doesn't mean anything before this statement but bankruptcy did. The term was chosen to give the same kind of emotional reaction as bankruptcy

The "drought vs no drought" conversation hides the fact that a significant percentage of the water in the central valley aquifer has been pumped out for agriculture and other uses. Even if we stopped that tomorrow it would not recharge quickly, and the surface water is not sufficient for current demand.
