Deaf people exist.

Seconding the point to please not use this on anyone not in a soundproofed car.

May I ask what the loud noise was? And sorry to hear that. Tinnitus and hyperacusis suck.

A small firework rocket that someone launched sideways instead of up exploded within a few meters of me.

I say small but I mean tiny. One of those that are sound only, no visuals.(Why are those even a thing?)

Bottle rockets I assume. I had a lot of fun with them as a kid. Thankfully no one involved with those got hurt.

I live in a northern Atlantic country and use it to learn about upcoming storms during storm season, days in advance of my national weather service.

And what about the users who trust services to protect their data? Safeguards like this are about protecting the users, not the developers.

That professional responsibility falls entirely on the developer[s]. Not on an inanimate object.

To make a non-tech analogy. This is functionally equivalent to locking up books in safes, so people can't abuse the knowledge they contain. Sure: if an incompetent person used a structural engineering handbook to build a bridge, and did it incorrectly and it collapsed, that would be a bad thing. But most people agree that's not the fault of the book, or negligence on the part of the library for failing to restrict access to the book.

Me, I'm against book-banning in all its forms. :)

I use Todoist heavily, but I wish it was more focused on long-term goals. E.g., it doesn't support visualizations or a task having multiple dependencies. These are nice features of Plocs - I wish you success with this!

Thanks a lot!

The article doesn't explain what exactly the "W4SP Stealer" does. Would someone be able to explain?

It downloads a script that, at least right now, will turn around and grab cookies and passwords from browsers and send the data off to an discord webhook.

> discord webhook

Hah. Is this true? I find it funny since IRC has/had this reputation for being a means of communication with malware and it's often blocked on this grounds.

Nice to know that malware is going on with the times and is using Discord for that now.

Discord is great as command and control server because the malware author doesn't need to expose their ip address or implement a complex web of proxy to secure their C&C server.

Couldn't you use someone else's IRC server, the same way you use Discord's server?

I suppose you could, but have you seen how popular new opensource projets being run these days? Young devs really loves discord to the point of hosting documentations there. I imagine young malware authors are no different.

Which, I don’t know if I’m getting old, but man that frustrates me. It’s a terrible platform for documentation. It’s barely a good text chat platform.

You are, yes and yes.

The source is actually hosted on GitHub, and there is a good readme explaining all that :)

If I hosted malware, I would be in jail. It is against the law. I wonder why Github is allowed to host malware, and continues to provide a platform for it?

It's a slew of checks for passwords and other things on the developers machine. The data is extracted and sent to a remote endpoint controlled by the attacker.

I thought your set was really funny. You established your character immediately, and then followed up perfectly with your first line which had everyone laughing from the start. I think people "got" it instantly which is why they even laughed at you rhyming off obscure facts about the bus system. Well done!
