Notello - local-first notes & tasks app for individuals / small teams.
We got tired of bouncing between a note-taking app and a task tracker. Notion combines them but it's slow and its offline capabilities are limited. Linear is fast but tasks-only. Obsidian is local-first and e2ee but single-player. So we're building Notello - notes and tasks in one deeply nestable tree, real-time multiplayer, works offline, e2e encrypted.
Reads/writes hit local SQLite first, sync happens in the background. That way everything is instant, you don't notice the network except in some very special use cases. Runs on web and desktop with shared core logic.
We're building it for powerusers like us who want IDE-like navigation, block editor, control over their data, granular sharing down to individual entries and more. Your work workspace and personal workspace live side by side, no switching workplaces.
Old website that needs refreshing (we failed to build it beyond an MVP a decade ago but armed with more experience, we're giving it our best this time): https://notello.com . Launching within the next few months!
Think of it - half the country doesn't have internet because of this crash, that's terrifying. (Switching DNS servers obviously works but that's not something the general population will do)
DNS servers of a major internet provider in the Czech Republic are down now. Probably not a coincidence (other DNS server's stats show increased traffic so my guess is that Vodafone's DNS servers were unable to cope with the increased traffic and crashed https://twitter.com/BlazejKrajnak/status/1445063232486531099).
It's crazy that half the country doesn't have internet because Facebook stopped working.
Thanks for your insightful reply. Could I kindly ask you to elaborate on this point? How did you find families to stay with? Thank you very much!
> Staying with families in different countries and seeing how they lived, how they treated their kids, and their priorities. This was very formative in deciding how to live my life.
Sure. In my case it was friends of family, and family of friends, sometimes a little distant but people were welcoming enough. Those were the best because you could stay a while and they were more relaxed with you, they usually wanted to show you around their town etc.
Also, sometimes I stayed in hostels that were small, family-run, more like a home than a hostel. So you saw the family life there too.
And some families rented out spare rooms. You used to meet people at a train station or other travel hub and size them up (does this happen now?). Sometimes get recommendations from other travellers going in the other direction. Important to note I wouldn't recommend this in general, particularly if you're female or travelling alone. And it requires a good deal of careful judgement and experience. I don't think I'd do this alone.
Maybe Airbnb makes this easier and safer nowadays. I've stayed in a lot of spare rooms in the US via Airbnb and had similar experiences.
