I couldn't read the article on mobile due to live notifications.

Yep, the alerts occlude must/most of the page. This is probably the first time the creator's encountered HN rush hour.

it's definitely not the first time the project has gotten traction on hn (eg: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37285156)

Dear AsmBB.org admin: Have those be turned off by default. They're annoying even when they don't occlude the entire screen.

Especially for guests viewing the page. No one really needs to know that a random person loaded the page. If there is some kind of friend/follow functionality for logged in users, and they want to enable notifications for them, ok, but that’s about as far as it should ever go.

Tap the Bell icon to disable the live notifications.

I can’t do that either because the notifications pile up and cover the button.

Why would anyone care to know that an anonymous person is reading the same page as you?

For a memorability, I would prefer using domain names which is invented for the humans.

There are timestamps for sorting.

He has written other excellent articles. Check more at: https://beej.us/guide/

The challenge screen has appeared on Google Chrome on a Linux distro.

Yeah, tested. They fixed.

Did you select “Remember me” in your test?

Yes, I found a remember me button on an external login page. There was a base64 encoded cookie but not in plain text. It was JSON string, includes some AES like encryption data, and expiry time.

You need to authenticate the user before the activation.

This. You could rely on a cookie during the get request as well, that you set on the users browser during registration. Or re-auth after click.

The problem with that is people like myself who tend to register on a laptop but then click the email verification link on their mobile phone.

(Because waiting for Gmail to load on a laptop is painful, whereas on my phone is shows up as a push notification within seconds)

What about magic links? :)

In Firefox, I would like to see the workspace feature which is already exist in Opera. It allows to you separate tabs as groups like Work, Project, Music etc..

use the multi-account container extension. this is a firefox feature originally developed by mozilla

Workspaces are for organization. Containers are for security, privacy, and using different accounts at the same time.

true, but you can use them for organization too.

can you point to a more detailed description of how workspaces in opera work?

A simple enhancement would be to change the colour of the UI for each container

there are color markers on the tabs, though it's debatable whether that's enough

This is why I avoid using important services (i.e. e-mail accounts, your backups, any digital products) in the one place. Just a little violate and then lose access to all of them. It can happen anytime, shouldn't be left to chance.

The real scandal is that people still using Google's Chrome.
