Is there a way to use Discord without using the awful childish interface?

Hilarious take. There's absolutely no advantage to learning to use LLMs now. Even LLM "skills", if you can call it that, that you may have learnt 6 months ago are already irrelevant and obsolete. Do you really think a smart person couldn't get to your level in about an hour? You are not building fundamental skills and experience by using LLM agents now, you're just coasting and possibly even atrophying.

There could be, it's just that we don't value testing highly enough and we're happy to see people killed and seriously injured by these things.

The shift from male to female is fascinating. In younger drivers accidents are disproportionately male, I guess due to high testosterone buffoonery but in older drivers it's disproportionately female. My personal observation is that older male drivers are much more slow and less confident whereas females tend to be overly confident and driving way too fast, especially the ones in huge cars.

According to this women become more dangerous than male 17-24 year old drivers only when they reach 80+ whereas for men they only become more dangerous than female 17-24 year old drivers at 86+.

I actually think more should be done about younger drivers than older.

When you correct for population size, I think you’ll see that difference largely, if not completely, goes away. There are more women than men in the UK from age 50 upwards (https://www.populationpyramid.net/united-kingdom/2025/)

The statistic is per distance driven.

One reason there are more females in accidents at the oldest ages is because the males are dead. In the UK, the average life expectancy for a female is 82.9 vs 77.9 for men, a 5-year gap.

Is that like a dog whistle for "perfectly in line with stereotypes"?

What I wanna see is how it maps vs wealth. Because I have a theory...

I don't think it fits with stereotypes. I would have thought older ladies would be relatively safe.

Nobody stereotypes men as oblivious or inattentive drivers. Excessively fast or discourteous perhaps but not inattentive.

> Older people in the UK already have free bus passes and various other substantial concessions regarding public transport.

My parents live somewhere that has two buses a week. They could get to the nearest city, then come back two hours later. If they miss the return bus they'd have to wait until next week.

A lot of these things sound great until you actually look at the reality.

I rebuilt a bicycle using tools in my dad's garage and basically just guesswork. Then I discovered this website and found out everything I'd done wrong. I had mismatched bearings, crap brakes and gears, you name it.

Must admit, though, this was pre-YouTube. While I do admire written works like this, and I still treasure some of my cookery books, there's nothing like watching someone do these things. Especially things involving subtle skills that nobody would think to write down, like adjusting derailleur gears. Learning by copying is the original and best way for many things.

I don't get what "the complexity of a sandbox" is. You don't have to use Docker. I've been running agents in bubblewrap sandboxes since they first came out.[0]

If the agent can only use the Python interpreter you choose then you could just sandbox regular Python, assuming you trust the agent. But I don't trust any of them because they've probably been vibe coded, so I'll continue to just sandbox the agent using bubblewrap.

All ads are scams. They are there to make you unhappy causing you to need to work/spend money to become happy again.

Your life will be perfect if you just buy [[PRODUCT]]. You will be happy. You will be envied by your neighbors. You will be rich and powerful. You will have a perfect loving relationship. If you don't buy it you will never have any of these things.

Whether they say it explicitly or not, that's what they push through careful imagery and wording.

Good. I feel like since cracking down on smoking in the 90s we've become really complacent to the dangers of addiction. Just like with smoking you'll get people inside the industry defending it too (like in this very comment section).

This is probably about extremes being bad. Having an extremely sedentary lifestyle is bad, but also having an extremely strenuous one is bad too.

I used to lift weights regularly. I'd go to the gym three times a week for an hour or two at a time. I'm pretty strong naturally and thought my training was going quite well being able to bench 1.5x my bodyweight, squat and deadlift more than 2x etc.

Then I paid some guys to move house for me. Actually, my job paid, I have still yet to pay for this service myself. They were lifting whole chests of drawers without even emptying them. It was crazy. I've since done plenty of this work myself (moved house three times by myself), but I do take the drawers out etc. Basically I work more intelligently and take more time.

What the moving guys were doing is harder, less safe, and they are doing this day in, day out. Add to that poor diets (both seemed to be fuelled on crisps, Coke and fags) and the differences become more clear.

So, like with anything, don't be too extreme. Too much heavy lifting will be just as bad for you as too little.
