This is actually true for a lot of hotel brands. It's more of a franchise situation.

I agree and disagree. For my gaming desktop, I'd just reinstall apps to get a fresh start.

I started my own software consulting/contracting thing this summer and if my machine crashed, every hour I'm not working is costing me money. So setting up all my apps again to get a fresh start isn't worth it. With TimeMachine on my NAS, I just get the replacement computer and let it restore while I sleep. Then I'm good to go the next morning.

JAMF is Apple only.

Depending on the size of your business, it's easier just to have a few (or even one if you're really small) spare machines for when one breaks or is having issues. Just turn it on, restore from the latest backup and give it to the user. Then send the old one off for repair if needed.

100% It actually let the fans spin down when plugged into a monitor.

No, they run MacOS (or OSX for older versions), a version of Unix. The M1s still run MacOS, just on a different type of processor hardware.

I figure kreetx is referring to bootcamp'd intel Macs running full Linux.

Yup

(Though note that Bootcamp is a macOS app to install Windows only. For linux the process less GUI assisted (but still pretty straight-forward).)

Not just consistency, but customer service. It's gone down a bit in recent years, but Amazon is still amazing at it. I can actually chat with someone, almost instantly, if I'm having a problem. Having had to deal with flight delays on American Airlines recently, it's insane how much of a difference there is.

Having had to get a passport recently, yes. At least better in the sense that you are actually receiving a service you've paid for.

It is virtually impossible to get an appointment at the passport office in the US right now. Not a local passport office, ANY passport office. There were people outside the one I went to offering a Nintendo Switch to people to trade for a time slot. The shortest wait time I had on the phone was three hours, and I called one minute after they opened.

I'm not sure what you are arguing here. You can buy things on Amazon but it's difficult to get a Passport right now. How is one thing related to the other?

Probably parent is writing in terms of the common line of thinking that Amazon exercises significant control over our lives by being so enormous and saying that it's not nearly so abusive a relationship as ones he's trapped in with other large institutions.

And if you have only a single citizenship, being stuck with the passport office is about as stuck as you can be.

You waited 3 hours for a passport appointment?

It's sad that Christians don't use historical context when interpreting verses.

It's sad that critics of Christianity don't use primary sources to inform themselves.

I'm going to be even more controversial and contend that neither historical context nor primary sources should ever be necessary to legitimately criticise an idea. Primary sources and historical context are certainly valuable for the study of history and culture—but any idea worth its salt should always be able to stand on its own. By way of example, one shouldn't need to have studied the Rigveda, or understand the historical context of ancient India, in order to have reasonable ground as a proponent or critic of modern yoga practice.

Being belligerently uninformed sounds super persuasive, for sure

I certainly wasn't offering advice about how to be persuasive in marketing your ideas, or criticising ideas. That's an entirely different kettle of fish.

If being able to quote from the Rigveda is important to changing your mind about whether yoga has positive physical effects on the human body, then I suppose anyone motivated to convince you should probably do that.

Even secondary sources would suffice here.

We have some pretty historic texts close to Christ's resurrection on get.catenabible.com - hope you find it helpful :) God bless!

Because politicians in the US exist to accept bribes for personal gain. Very few of them seem to give two shits about anyone besides themselves. Especially on the right side of the aisle.
