Sad. It was such a huge turnout of civil disobedience and a chance to get rid of the brutal theocracy. But the international community is so distracted by stupid things like Trump threatening to invade Greenland, and shooting his own citizens, that the Iran situation isn’t getting any attention.
If the cost of most things went up then you'd have a good case for saying the value of the dollar went down, if it's mostly gold (or the general category of assets that gold is a part of) then not so much.
As someone who isn’t familiar with the deep details of the hardware side of the AI industry, I’m curious if these chips are “easy” to write AI software for, or if there is a big barrier. How significant is Nvidia’s moat on the software layer, which I often see talked about in articles, when people seem to be willing to adopt AI accelerators. And if AI accelerators can be adopted, why aren’t other competitors to Nvidia (AMD, Intel, etc) able to break in?
ICE and DHS already were bloated and somehow grew from not existing 25 years ago to a $100 billion budget. Then the big Trump spending bill added another $200 billion to their budget. And there’s no accountability for who gets that money - it’s all friends and donors and members of the Trump family.
They have money for this grift of epic scale but complain about some tiny alleged Somalian fraud to distract the gullible MAGA base. And of course there is somehow not enough money for things people actually need like healthcare.
Here’s a direct link to the tweet from the White House deputy communications director that said this, after being caught red handed altering photos to spread propaganda and lying to the public:
Even crazier is the reply further down on that post from the deputy press secretary, Abigail Jackson, making fun of people who debunked that post like Snopes:
It’s horrifying but shows that they’re completely shameless about lying. And shameless about being aggressive and obscene. You see this from the other people too like press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who regularly abuses journalists asking reasonable questions.
And more horrifying are all the accounts replying in support of this. That’s evidence of the hardcore MAGA base that’ll support Trump no matter what he does, I guess.

I'd just like to say that judging public perception based on online comments, in 2026, is probably not a good indicator at all. Sort of ironic having to point this out in a thread about AI faked images, but...
Why? There’s plenty of people disavowing their actions and plenty supporting them. There will be plenty of blue checkmarks with full face shown selfdoxxing while they gleefully call for more to be killed.
my point is that there’s enough information that it’s a selfdoxx of it being an actual person that you can find from the information given there alone.
Plenty of people pay for the ‘i think my opinion matters more’ boost button, malicious propagandist or regular person alike
That could be true. But the damage is real still. Posts by bots influence real people. If Twitter / X has lots of fake accounts, we need to figure out how to force them to do something about it. I’m sure they can do more about bots if the replies on most big accounts are mostly bots. If they aren’t mostly bots, then that’s a problem of a different kind. But mass spam by bots can still corrupt our political process.
Many Trump supporters actually believe a collapse of the dollar would be a good thing, and that Trump has a plan, because of (some vague bogeyman about the federal reserve). They don’t realize or want to admit that this would mean they would become poorer overnight.
Yep, Pretti was a citizen. As was the Hmong person they detained in his underwear. Most of the people they detain aren’t criminals.
> People are obstructing armed immigration enforcement and expecting to come away unscathed.
It’s scary that people actually think like this. These types of unprincipled excuses for lawlessness and murder are how authoritarians get into power. It might have been more excusable in the past but not today when the videos show the murder for the whole world to see.
It is. The MAGA subset of the right suddenly doesn’t care about the second amendment. I guess that should be expected after they’ve shown they don’t care about the first (people recording ICE) or fourth (warrantless raids) amendments too.
