Iirc the firewall was already in XP. Maybe earlier but sp2 for sure.

Default allows everything though but you could even set outbound blocking rules. Cumbersome UI and no really good visibility though.

Isn't bcachefs even younger and less polished than btrfs? It does show more promise as btrfs seems to have fundamental design issues... but still I wouldn't use that for my important data.

I don't disagree. Gotta backups for important data either way too!

Just talking about filesystems with checksumming (and multidevice). Any new filesystem to support these features is going to be newer.

I've had both btrfs and bcachefs multidevice filesystems lock up read-only on me. So no real data loss, just a pain to get the data into a new file system, the time it was an 8 drive array on btrfs.

Not sure about the stats, but it does feel like there are fewer. So from what I know encryption and sending fs state had bugs in ZFS.

And on btrfs anything above raid1 (5,6 etc) has had very serious bugs. Actually read an opinion somewhere (don't remember where) raid5,6 on btrfs cannot work due to on-disk format being just bad for the case. I guess this is why raid1c3/c4 is being promoted and worked on now?

By GDPR this is illegal. But I assume no action will be forthcoming

Microsoft pretty much abandoned desktop as is. They are just squeezing out what is left. Their main cash now is azure and office365. And they expect it to be AI next. Kinda obvious by the where the effort goes.

Not true. No way to even play those games in Linux....

Your desktop is set to focus where mouse cursor is not where you click. Usually can be changed. Also in conjunction with that the game is set to freeze when it loses focus. So maybe you can change that in game.

I had great success in such cases by just overriding the compatibility tool used, most often to just some version of proton. Default sometimes just does not work.

I must assume the justification was "it is cool". especially considering they also placed capacitive touch "buttons" on the steering wheel. Those are the worst of both worlds in every case imaginable.

Manufacturers sometimes change things that already work, just to separate the "old technology" and the new. When people want a completely new car, they expect things to be different and new, even if they are worse.

I believe Toyota did this frequently in their Prius models, where things were different from mainline Toyota just because, like the center-mounted speedometer and the joystick shifter.

Well, he cashed in 2 billion of govt money for the moon mission and that doesn't look like it will fly.

Well, it is flying, it's the "refuel in space" and "re-entry in a manner such that it's reusable" parts which are questionable.
