I was going to try it, but it looks like too many people are killing their myspaces alread.

"Myspace service currently unavailable, due to massive requests!!"

I think you're right... and the rep that the process gets comes from those 5% with problems, who are shouting at the top of their lungs (typing furiously?), while the other 95% are quietly and contentedly working on their next app.

My own experience with the app store has been smooth and uneventful; definitely nothing worth invoking Internet Rage over.

Wondering how many people tried going to long-domain-name-i-spent-10-dollars-on-just-to-put-one-snarky-word-in-96-point-helvetica.com

like me...

Actually a bit of market research for a book. Trying to decide between two cover blurbs: "A programming background in Java or C++ is recommended." or "A background in object-oriented languages is recommended."

The book uses some Java and C++ comparisons when introducing new concepts.

Edit: Also, awesome site. Thanks for the link!

If the latter phrasing is correct, use that. If you really do need Java or C++ specifically, then use the former.

Thanks for the sweet data! Could I ask for anyone who only knows "other languages", which ones do you mostly use? What sort of field are you in?

I use scripting languages almost exclusively ( I haven't written C in about 10 yrs). In order of preference, JavaScript, Python & PHP.

Science shop - most of our development is in perl (OO style), C and Fortran, with a smattering of whatever else we are saddled with.

Ruby, Hecl, Tcl, C, occasionally Javascript and other things like Erlang.

C#, Perl, a bit of scheme and lisp.

C#, Python, Javascript

I use Ruby (via Rails and HacketyHack) the most, but I also code in Haskell, C, Javascript, D... and some others, just not very often.

Voted back up, because the post about taking methamphetamines has more points than the post about taking adderall.

O sweet, hook me up! jhogue at gmail

Link gives only "Database Error". Is this intentionally ironic, or is it unexpected?

It should be back up now. Too much traffic I guess. :)

Sharp, clean sounds with a bit of nostalgia. It appeals to a certain demographic; if it's not for you, then so it goes.

I used to listen to it but then I realized, "holy fuck why am I living in the past?"

Also, if you want sharp clean sounds you can listen to minimalist techno, some house music, etc. Most music is composed of sharp clean sounds because it's digitally recorded and fine-tuned by sold sound engineers.

Like with anything, creativity can spawn some really good 8-bit music that isn't only re-hashed zelda tunes. For a good starting point, have a look at that documentary I posted in the comments, I used to think it was just "living in the past" until I watched it and looked up some of the music.

edit: I'll include the link again for the lazy: http://www.vimeo.com/3734864

Nope. Carriers restrict access to... pretty much anything cool - bluetooth, wifi, internet, usb, third-party apps, custom ringtones, custom wallpapers... all locked down and accessible for a price

accessible for a price

Going online and downloading the unlocked ROM image?
